School-Wide Awards

School-wide awards have a distinctive significance. Therefore, the following guidelines and limits have been established for the annual awards as follows:

 

 

Annual Principal's Honor Roll

*Annual Certificate
For those students who met the criteria for the Quarterly Principal's Honor Roll all four grading periods.

Annual Academic Honor Roll

*Annual Certificate
For those students who were either on the Quarterly Principal's Honor Roll or the Quarterly Superstars Honor Roll
( a combination of both) all four grading periods.

Annual Superstars Honor Roll

*Annual Certificate
For those students who were on the Quarterly Superstars Honor Roll all four grading periods.

Annual Citizenship Honor Roll
*Annual Certificate
For those students who met the Quarterly Citizenship Honor Roll criteria requirements for all four
grading periods.

Annual Excellent Attendance Honor Roll

*Annual Certificate
For those students who met the Quarterly Excellent Attendance requirements all four grading periods.

Annual Spanish Awards
*Annual Certificate
For those outstanding students enrolled in the Spanish Program.

Annual Most Improved
*Annual Certificate
For those students who have improved in an academic area.

CORE
For those students who read books within the following ranges:

Silver Seal Certificate Award...50+
Gold Seal Certificate Award...100+
Reading Award & Pin.............200+

Superior and Excellent
*Certificates 
For those students who placed in the Superior, Excellent categories.

Theodore Gibson Oratorical Contest
*Trophy (First Place winner)
*Certificate
For those students in grades 3 through 5 who participated in the oratorical contest at
the school level.

Spelling Bee Award
*Medallion
*Certificate
For those students who won as grade level champions.

Safety Patrol Awards
*Trophy
*Annual Certificate
*Pin
For those students in "good standing" who were on the school's Safety Patrol.

Presidential Physical Fitness Award
*Certificate Cards
Students in grades 4 through 5 who score within an established range of points will receive either a gold, blue or red certificate card. The top scorer in the boy's and girl's categories will each receive a trophy.

ESOL
*Trophy
*Annual Certificate
For an outstanding student enrolled in the ESOL Program.

Art/Music/Physical Education
*Annual Certificate
For those outstanding students in grades 2 through 6 who participated in the school's fine arts
programs.

 

 

 
Special Fifth Grade Awards

The following categories identify the various end-of-the-year awards that are issued at the fifth grade Special Awards Assembly:

Principal's Award - Plaque to hang in the Hall of Honor
                                              Plaque for each recipient
Criteria:
a.Recipient of Annual Principal's Honor Roll Award
b. Provides Services to the school
c. Attendance averages 90% or better
d. Two or less tardy marks recorded

 

Joyce Kramer Award of Excellence- Plaque to hang in the Hall of Honor
                                                                                 Plaque for each recipient
Criteria:
a. Recipient of Annual Citizenship Award
b. Community Service
c. Recipient of Academic Honor Roll

Kiwanis Club- Plaque to hang in the Hall of Honor
                                      Plaque for each recipient
Criteria:
a.Distinguished School Service
b.Citizenship

Aventura Award of Excellence- Plaque to hang in the Hall of Honor
                                                                       Plaque for recipient

Criteria:
a. One person
b. Superintendent or Academic Excellence Scholar
c. Annual Citizenship Award Recipient
d. Community Service

Irene Molner Schatz Award - Plaque to hang in the Hall of Honor
                                                                  Plaque for each recipient
Criteria:
a. Demonstrates an appreciation for the arts
b. Gives of his/her time to help others

Dalili Johnson Ojus Superstar Award-Plaque to hang in the Hall of Honor
                                                                  Plaque for each recipient
Criteria:
For any student who demonstrated courage, honesty, kindness,positive attitude, sound character, and
determination in overcoming uncommon obstacles.

Turn Around Award-Plaque to hang in the Hall of Honor
                                                                  Plaque for each recipient
Criteria: For those students who made significant gains in attendance, academics, effort, and/or behavior.

Sally Heyman Award-Plaque to hang in the Hall of Honor
                                                                  Plaque for each recipient
Criteria: For those students who demonstrated outstanding scholastic citizenship.

North Dade Chamber Award-Plaque to hang in the Hall of Honor
                                                                  Plaque for each recipient
Criteria: Demonstrates outstanding citizenship,community service, and scholastic achievement.

North Dade Optimist Club-Plaque to hang in the Hall of Honor
                                                                  Plaque for each recipient
Criteria:
a. Exhibits optimism as part of his/her developing philosophy of life
b. Promotes and takes an active interest by participating in Student Government and/or Civic affairs.

Harriet L. Bannon Literary Award- Plaque to hang in the Hall of Honor
                                                                              Plaque for the recipient
Criteria: Excels in creative writing

Jeaneen H. Kinchen Science Award- Plaque to hang in the Hall of Honor
                                                                                 Plaque for each recipient
Criteria
a. Followed the established school Science Fair requirements
b.Highest ranked 5th grade student in the Science Fair

Bessie S. Dennis Humanity Award- Plaque to hang in the Hall of Honor
                                                                               Plaque for each recipient
Criteria:
a. Demonstrates patience and kindness
b. Demonstrates unselfishness

Edward J. Almos Award -Plaque to hang in the Hall of Honor
                                                                               Plaque for each recipient
Criteria: Demonstrates exceptional inner strength and determination

Superintendent's Honors Music Award- Plaque to hang in the Hall of Honor
                                                                                             Plaque for each recipient
Criteria:
a. Auditions for the District Superintendent's Honors Orchestra
b. Accepted as a Superintendent's Honors Orchestra/Chorus                                                                              

Jason Cohn-Kleinberg Math Award

Criteria: Participation in Math Bowls  FCAT Level 4 and 5, Teacher Recommendation.
